Pacific Island Rises Up Out of the Ocean

There has been widespread concern that rising sea levels from global warming will swamp Pacific Islands. (Remember the blog post by Ian Mott lambasting the ABC for confusing sinking islands with rising sealevels?)

Then along comes a seismic jolt unleashing a tsunami and, acording to ABC news, an entire island is lifted three metres out of the sea:

"In an instant, the grinding of the Earth's tectonic plates in the 8.0 magnitude earthquake on Monday forced the island of Ranongga up three metres.

Submerged reefs that once attracted scuba divers from around the globe lie exposed and dying after the quake raised the mountainous landmass, which is 32 kilometres long and eight kilometres wide."

Bloody CO2 !! there must have been a HUGE bubble of this toxic stuff (re Canadian EPA) generated under the sea bed. Isn't it great that the InterPlanetary Council of Crooks were able to model this event and put out a Tsunami warning in time. One of the Eight Wonders of the world those models.

Proof that sea surface level measurements are extremely problematical - another scientifically factual nail in the AGW coffin.

I think perhaps most of the usual "Gore apologists" have taken one look at this article, and the ridiculous thread emanating from it, and have chosen to leave you lot to it. For anyone to make a connection between a seismic event and sea level changes subsequent to GW is just testimony to the paucity of brain cells around here.

The whole world got marginally smaller during the 2004 Boxing Day earthquake - but guess what? That also had nothing to do with climate change.

Hey, and here's another stunning fact; I just walked up the stairs raising myself by 3m further above sea level - and guess what? That also had nothing to do with climate change.

I think the coral in my underpants might be dieing though.
