Cassowaries Mating: A Note from Neil Hewett
Posted by jennifer, at 09:33 PM
I received the followed note and pictures from Neil Hewett of Cooper Creek Wilderness in the magnificent Daintree Rainforest of Far North Queensland. Neil wrote: "These magnificent birds once roamed more than half the land-surface of the planet, but for the inconvenience of global cooling and drying."
These images were captured at Cooper Creek Wilderness by Brian and Rosemary Mulcahy of Ormond, Victoria.

In the words of an old joke;
a bushie up before a magistrate after being caught eating one and successfully pleading his lack of lknowledge of law; was asked the question what did they taste like? Replied that it was a mixture of fairy penguin and platapus.

Hey Neil - impressive bustards
I dropped in here to seek refuge from the savage reality of the other parts of the blog. Motty has had me on the ropes giving me the envelope and the urbanite-putdown death grip for days now.
Seriously nice photos but did you ask their permission? They look a serious bird though - reminds me of the echidna joke - how do echidnas mate - Ans: with extreme caution.
